Film: Black Swan

Having been on theatres everywhere for ages now it seems, the non-perks with living in Sweden is that the date of the premiere of Black Swan wasn’t until Friday last night. In fact, most of the Oscarnominated films this year are premiering after the actual Oscars (in this country, that is). In any case, I’m pondering on whether or not this movie should be hyped in this post at all. Why? Because it’s been so incredibly hyped by every critic, every moviegoer, every cinephile out there. I’d go as far as to say that the term over-hyped seems relatively underwhelming right about now. But so what is it that we’re hearing all over? A killer, and now Oscarworthy, performance by Portman accompanied by stellar performances of the remaining cast. A visionary director at his peek with this latest body of work. A film so seductive and so gripping that you’ll be at the edge of your seat ’til the very end. Are you by any chance hyped by now? I’d say I am. We’ll leave it at that.
