something thought-provoking (or: why I haven’t been updating lately)

In Film, Life on 2011/05/13 at 10:06 pm

Finding it hard to blog these days when working two jobs. I get home and two thoughts bombard my head: FOOD and SLEEP. In shifting order. Was thinking of putting up some psychadelic shots from Dazed and Confused, and maybe even some random quotes just to prove how awesomely perfect that movie was, but the quotes nor shots can even begin to express the greatness of the film. It’s all about the feel of it, you know? Just like taking a picture and looking at the shot from your camera. It’s pretty and all… but something’s not quite right, there’s always something missing there. And it’s exactly that: the feeling. How you felt when you were standing at that exact place at that exact time or how the movie felt when watching it for the very first time. That’s why most people say “I don’t rewatch movies. Ever.” which had always puzzled me and I’d respond with something like “But if you’ve seen it, and obviously liked it before, you know it’s not going to be a disappointment now either, do you?” and then we’d start discussing how some films are at their best the first time while others improve by each view (like every film Christopher Nolan’s done in my opinion) and yada yada yada. But my point is this: Yes, movies are most likely to be perfect the first time BUT! who said anything about not wanting to re-experience that another time? And another time? So in the spirit of that here are some photos that just barely show the brilliance of the films they were taken from: (for some reason the formats aren’t willing to work with me here so just click on the stills to fully appreciate them)

High Fidelity, Road to Perdition, Stand by Me, Blade Runner
